Threading is an ancient method of unwanted hair removal. In most cases, threading is used for a facial hair removal and for eyebrows shaping.
What makes it different from other hair removal methods? What are the benefits of threading?
Threading is not a very costly method: at a beauty salon it costs about US$10 for the eyebrows. If you thread at home, all you need is a little bit of practice, max. 1 meter of cotton thread and a bit of spare time.
With threading, hairs are removed down to their roots, so they are supposed to regrow after at least a week (up to four weeks). As a not very invasive and natural method (not a chemical one), it is particularly recommended for the people with sensitive skin or those who use cosmetics with retinol or fruit acids/ AHA. Many people say that it is less painful than waxing or plucking.
Threading can cause skin irritation and ingrown hairs. To avoid skin irritation, let your skin rest for a few hours after the treatment. You may apply a gentle lotion that will cool and hydrate your skin. Avoid sunbathing for a few hours and do not use skin exfoliating products soon after the treading. However, it is recommended to gently exfoliate the skin with luffa sponge (loofah) few days after the treatment in order to remove dead skin cells and to prevent ingrown hair.
