Laser Hair Removal - Preparation PhaseWhat to do before the laser hair removal treatment?
Laser is perceived as one of the best hair removal techniques. However, it is essential to remember about few important issues before the laser surgery. The laser treatment should be preceded by a medical consultation, during which the doctor explains the surgery, answers all your questions concerning the laser treatment and checks if there are any contraindications for the surgery. Some of possible contraindications are:
pregnancy
very strong tan, sun burns
sun-bathing, solarium, self tan creams applied recently to the skin. All those treatments should be discontinued for a couple of weeks before surgery
cosmetics containing retinol
some medicines
some herbs
body scrub made recently and some other beauty treatments
psoriasis, propensity to scars and discoloration
irritated skin, skin infections or hypersensitivity
Skin preparation phase before the laser hair removal treatment
Typically, the skin should be shaved with a razor few days before the surgery, so that the hair was about 2mm. You should not remove hair with tweezers! Before the procedure, skin should be thoroughly cleaned and you should not use any creams and cosmetics on the day of surgery.
The laser treatment can be carried out only if the new tan is gone.
In addition, you make sure not to use before the laser hair removal treatment:
herbs and medicines that can make your skin more sensitive for the sunbeam and laser beam
cosmetics and therapy aimed to skin exfoliation
creams containing ingredients such as retinol, fruit acids, wit. C
It is also not recommended to use depilatory creams, self tan creams etc. before the surgery.
Please note that the comprehensive interview with your doctor will help you to avoid difficulties and skin complications (like burned skin) after the laser treatment.
Remember to ask your doctor about all possible contraindications, complications and skin care guidelines concerning the laser hair removal.
