Laser Hair Removal

What To Do After The Laser Treatment

As each of the aesthetic medicine treatments, also laser hair removal treatments require a particular concern and skin care after the surgery.

For approximately two weeks after the surgery you should not expose the skin to UV radiation (both natural and solarium). You will have to apply sunscreen protecting creams against harmful UV radiation variations (sunscreen protection 50 or more). After the surgery you should not use self tan creams as well.

After the laser treatment, skin may receive temporary swelling or redness. Such symptoms should disappear after a few hours, in extreme cases up to several days.

Skin care after the laser hair removal treatment

After laser treatment the skin should be treated extremely gently.
Especially recommended:

  • DO NOT exfoliate the skin (for at least two weeks after the treatment)
  • Replace the soap with a very gentle cleanser without soap and without alcohol
  • Do not apply toiletries and other skin care products based on alcohol or other substances irritating the skin in areas subjected to the laser treatment
  • Do not take medicines and herbs that make your skin sensitive to the light or sun after surgery.
  • In the case of a distressing symptoms you should immediately contact your doctor. It can be a false alarm, but there are never too many precautions.

Laser hair removal is carried out almost always in the series of a few treatments (a physician determine the optimal solution). The interval between treatments will be established your doctor, but this is usually about 3-6 weeks.

Remember to ask your doctor about all possible complications, contraindications and skin care guidelines concerning the laser treatment.
