Ingrown hair. How to get rid of it?

There is a lot of people that have problems related to depilation. If you have strong body hair, shaving makes your hair even stronger... so you try epilators or waxing - a bit better results, but those horrible ingrown hair appears. And they are difficult to get rid of. And sometimes leave scars or marks on your skin. It is difficult to get rid of ingrown hair, but it is possible. Below you will find some tips that should help you solve this problem.

Ingrown hair is a condition where hair curls round and starts growing back or sideways into the skin causing irritation and inflammation (sometimes may be painful).

There are several causes of ingrown hair:

- Some hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing or epilation that can irritate the hair follicle. For example, it is possible that epilator will "break" a hair under the skin instead of removing it. And this hair is likely to grow into the skin.

- Stiff, coarse and / or curly body hair are also likely to in grow.

- Dead skin cells that are accumulated in the pores and on the surface of the skin can make the hair trapped under the old cells and bring to further irritation of the skin.

- Skin dehydration, lack of moisture.

How to prevent ingrown hair?

The goal is to soften the skin, moisturize it and get rid of dead cells, so that hair is able to get out of the skin, not to grow into it.

To get rid of dead cells, you should make a body scrub one day before planned depilation and one day after. Peeling exfoliates and removes dead skin cells and leaves the skin smooth. Choose a gentle product that will remove cells without irritating the skin. Please remember that it is better to have different product for face and a different one for the body scrub, since face skin is more sensitive. You can use also special sponges or body brush. Do not exfoliate the skin if it is already irritated.

Next step is to moisturize the skin. In your local department store or pharmacy ask for moisturizer cream that can be used for sensitive and irritated skin (you can search the internet as well). I would opt for one with no or minimal content of preservatives and perfumes.

For ingrown hair along the bikini line, wear loose-fitting underwear and clothing.
